What are the mechanics of Moon Glaive? I know that the glaives themselves cannot trigger UAM's but it is not clear how the glaive damage is calculated.
Is the damage reduction based on the damage delivered to the first target, or Luna's base damage? I.e if you have a Daedalus and your initial strike crits for 800, does the next glaive reduce by 35% of that, or is it still based on the base damage?

Last time I check it's based on intial strike, not base damage.

      Satellizer

        just tested in-game
lvl 25 luna with no items (176 base damage)
5 lvl 25 centaurs with no items (centaur had 12 armor)

[04:46.08] Luna hits Centaur Warrunner for 100 damage (2218->2118). <--- initial hit
[04:46.41] Luna hits Centaur Warrunner with Moon Glaive for 65 damage (2696->2631). <-- 1st bounce
[04:46.75] Luna hits Centaur Warrunner with Moon Glaive for 42 damage (2696->2654). <-- 2nd bounce
[04:46.98] Luna hits Centaur Warrunner with Moon Glaive for 27 damage (2696->2669). <-- 3rd bounce
[04:47.21] Luna hits Centaur Warrunner with Moon Glaive for 17 damage (2656->2639). <-- 4th bounce
[04:47.45] Luna hits Centaur Warrunner with Moon Glaive for 11 damage (2670->2659). <-- 5th bounce

        the last bounce went back

Reguardless of crit amount, glaive puts out the same damage. The initial glaive is 65% of your total base damage including items minus physical reduction. Your attack damage is a range and it will calculate based on your min attack damage.

Luna deals 78 + 243 which is 321 total damage. Pudge has 34% physical resistance. This is what happens.

          [21:51.93] Luna hits Pudge for 211 damage (2448->2237). >>>> 321 * .66 = 211
[21:52.36] Luna hits Pudge with Moon Glaive for 136 damage (2448->2312). >>>> (75+243=318)*.65*.66=136.422
[21:52.76] Luna hits Pudge with Moon Glaive for 88 damage (2239->2151). >>>> 136*.65
[21:53.13] Luna hits Pudge with Moon Glaive for 57 damage (2313->2256). >>>> 88*.65
[21:53.50] Luna hits Pudge with Moon Glaive for 37 damage (2154->2117). >>>> 57*.65
[21:53.90] Luna hits Pudge with Moon Glaive for 24 damage (2260->2236). >>>> 24*.65

and with a 2.4x crit from dad

[30:45.13] Luna hits Pudge for 502 damage (2448->1946).
[30:45.53] Luna hits Pudge with Moon Glaive for 136 damage (2449->2313).
[30:45.90] Luna hits Pudge with Moon Glaive for 88 damage (1948->1860).
[30:46.27] Luna hits Pudge with Moon Glaive for 57 damage (2315->2258).
[30:46.63] Luna hits Pudge with Moon Glaive for 37 damage (1863->1826).
[30:47.00] Luna hits Pudge with Moon Glaive for 24 damage (2260->2236).

Ok that is interesting but also raises more questions. If you target someone with 0 armor and a glaive bounces onto someone with a lot of armor does each glaive account for the different armor values or do you get 65% of what the initial target took? I am just wondering if this works in a similar manner to battlefury where targeting the weak can cleave others for more damage.

Crits do seem a little pointless on Luna, I've never been a fan myself, seems a desolator is a much better pick as it will synergise with the glaives.

eh.. bkb manta fly and finish the game.

Of course, but that doesn't answer the question as to how the glaives work. How do you get that damage debug information?

I wouldn't deso on her, lifesteal is much more important. Just go standard build, dominator/bkb, manta/butterfly, satanic.

^^ You still have a free slot once you have BKB, Manta, Butterfly, Satanic, Boots. Topic is not what should I build on Luna. I know what the common build is and it's pretty rigid.

Satellizer's post was pretty helpful, but I'd like to see, or be able to make myself, these stats but with a variety of heroes or even creeps so I can see how/when armor reduction is applied.
