This isn't applicable to the example you gave, but if you have a team with very good turtle and expect to lose the midgame but hold hg, midas can let you win the lategame where your heroes shine. The flipside is that you can't go midas if your team is getting rolled
AKA good with techies, tinker, arc, sniper sometimes. Bad if you have low depush and spectre or other such stuff where you NEED a strong midgame to enable ur teammates to come online
I think ppl make midas when they are getting choked , gives them a chance to get more out of the few neuts and farm they get , when they cannot farm other sides of map . Idk thats what i always thought .

Nah you are just hardstuck 2k player, since that hero has no GPM talent that means you took that farm from your cores and then you probably wonder why you are not winning games, why are your cores underfarmed, but hey dota is about having fun!

When to get midas. When it gets good. I love the exp boost factor. I only get midas while playing support who relies on levels. But even then I'd always have better items to buy. 2k gold could be a mega op meka in the early game. At the end of the day you want items that keep opponents at bay which in turn make them weary of farming freely causing them to be at a lower level. Instead of competing with them to see who can have a higher gpm xpm.
as a support always go midas instead of force stuff against slark because you will have a solid source of money and exp in those little time intervals between your numerous deaths
3 WB = 1545g for 162 hp 0.9 ms 3.6 armor 108 mana 41.5 attack speed 18 damage etc
Vs Midas that returns gold and gives same speed roughly.
If you can have it on 7min max
^^ this is like a 2k mmr understanding of midas. It's not about when you get the midas, it's about whether your team can survive the next 6 minutes with you one small item behind, and whether the later power spike is better for winning the game than a strong 2000 gold item

last patch i used to get it on phoenix when i feel team has autism and i have to solo carry with bird which is very hard and forces you to be mega greedy

auras every game to make space for hc and sb is obsolete cuz sentries are the best support item in the game atm

Like I’ve always believed the item to be terrible in terms of gold gain and is mostly an experience item for heroes like Invoker (and Arc Warden because of double midas). Especially in this early fighting meta.
But recent Slark builds are skipping Wraith Bands completely in favor of Midas?? (Into blink). Even BSJ bought a midas once in a struggling game, going 11 minute PT into 16 minute midas. What’s the point? His talents are garbo so definitely not for the levels.
