Valve stated that we have four different mmr's right? Solo ranked, Part Ranked, Solo Normal, Party Normal.
So let's say you've only played ranked mmr for a couple of weeks, and your mmr increased by 300. What happens when you queue to a normal matchmaking? Will you queue with your solo normal mmr which is lower by 300 to your ranked mmr? Doesn't that make games imbalanced since you aren't playing in your supposed to be current bracket?
