You can't have been playing doto all your life. What kinds of jobs you have been doing?

I am a college student now but have been working during summers.
I worked in an office answering phones, easy job but not well paid.
Also as a labourer in construction, hard job but well paid.

    How about you?

    Seoulmate

I'm 14 so I can't get a real job, I dogsit and do community service.

I took the baseline as a chef, worked at 2 restaurants. shit paid, working ur ass off 230hours a moth. At one of the places they had something called interest hours, which means i don't get paid for about 80hours a moth, working free.

I'm a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army Reserve. (Medical Services, nothing super cool.) I used to do some part time work at a comic book store in college (that was a cool job), interned at a local bank, and am now looking for full-time work while my girlfriend finishes college.

I'm a software developer and make a lot of money (close to 6 figs now and I just turned 30) with very good hours and lots of web surfing time =) If you have the chops I strongly recommend engineering or software as a career choice. Better starting pay than anything outside of like lawyers and doctors, takes half the education time (maybe a third compared to drs) and has far better hours than both those.

Most recently I've been an English teacher in a school in Spain, prior to this I was a restaurant manager, prior to that a bar manager, prior to that a labourer and further back still I worked in a photo processing company, I manned my owned machine and would be responsible for any faults or breaks in it, long shifts were boring but it was quite good fun when the machinery broke as I taught myself how to take them apart and fix them.

Well Dota came out 9 years ago. So if you are 24 or younger. You pretty much could have been playing dota your entire life since you arent legally allowed to work till you are 16 for most jobs

Lol, 14 is young. But I guess I took up dota at 13 so it's only fair.

Also, it's interesting to see what other players have been doing for a living, for me.

Hi! I read for a living. I read manuscripts and give reader's reports or TV/film agents, who have people to read publishing things for them, and also write reports, but with an eye towards marketability. 😉

                                ^ That actually sounds fun.

Im still a college student, so only those kind of jobs. I used to go to highschools to represent our school and tell them why they want to come here, fun thing, into car at around 5am, same shit 4-5 different schools then getting home, but mostly it was sitting in a car for hours, but they payed okey ish.

Then half year answering phones at our ISP/TV company, that one hurt my soul and brain... I never thought that many retards exist... I did some random easy and boring jobs in factories, but not many times. Atm looking for something easy but boring, couse that helpdesk phone job killed me.

Nope, not silicon valley, I live in Michigan. If I lived in California I'd probably be making 20% more but rents are so freakin high there it'd be a wash. Maybe other countries are different but average starting salaries for engineers/software engineers in the US is like 60-65,000 a year. Average for a senior position with 5+ years experience is around 85-90,000. Depends a little on your area, obviously living in like North Dakota there are no jobs for you, but there are software companies in every major metropolitan area. I have over 10 years at my company and I interned there in college, so while it might seem quite impressive it's very representative of the field. I'm kind of "old" by dota standards too, rest of you guys will get there eventually, when I was 24 I barely made half what I do now.
